Hey all. i just got laid off at my current job as of 3 days ago, and i really really need to get a job ASAP. i dont really want to live off unemployment or can for that matter. so does anyone know of any places in the area hiring? thanks alot.

your odds of finding a job in davis square (not to mention

davis_square) are slim to none. this is a residential area. but, the internet does have boston jobs on job sites, like craigslist, bostonworks, monster, hotjobs, and dice.

i found a job in davis square ;) there are a bunch of businesses here as well. though i also don't suggest looking in this community for a job (i got mine off idealist.org)

psshh, the internet is GLOBAL, it doesn't have boston jobs. You have to speak like portugeuse or something to get an internet job because it's internationalwide.

Seriously, you need to tell us a little more about yourself, the kind of work you were doing, what you're looking to do next, etc.

What is it that you do? There is very intense hiring in IT now.

I'm underscoring what the membership has said here. You have to say what your field is and give some specifics as to what you do. I'm all for neighbors helping neighbors find jobs, but nobody can help if we don't know what you're looking for. (if it's any job or McJob available, say so).

You didn't tell us what kind of work you did or do, so it's hard to give any suggestions.

Jobs aren't general. If you wanted a general job you should have said so. You haven't taken the time to answer anyone's questions for more info but sure have taken the time to insult people. Way to go! I wouldn't hire you either.

Eh. There's plenty of jobs where manic panic and piercings won't keep you from getting hired. Laziness and rudeness, on the other hand, both of which the OP exhibits in spades, are not making her any positive networking connections. Especially since the odds are high that at least a few people here have hiring power in Davis Square, and might have brought her in if she'd used some common sense in responding.

Its a simple question with a simple answer either you happen to walk by a place that's hiring or not...really it's that simple. :)

well, Urban Gourmet in Ball Square, and the gas station on Boston Ave. have both had hiring signs out since I moved in over a year ago. Does that help?
