Wanted - "Somerville" song by David Misch

In the early 1970s, David Misch wrote and sang this song about Somerville.

If anyone has an audio recording of it -- the original 45, an audiocassette, an MP3, whatever -- please let me know. The Somerville Arts Council would like to have a copy.

UPDATE: I reached the writer of the song, who sent me an MP3 and allowed me to upload it to the Internet Archive with a Creative Commons license.

I have a copy of the 45. Would they copy it and return it, or want to keep it for a museum, or what?

the MP3 I got from David Misch will probably suffice, but if you ever decide to get rid of that 45 for any reason, please don't throw it away. I bet the Arts Council or the Somerville Museum or the Somerville Public Library could use it.

Oh, I heard that song performed by a band at the Lizard Lounge, but I can't remember the name of the band, unfortunately. It's even more hilarious when you hear it sung. :-)

Wow, someone covered the song? That's awesome and I'd love to find out who did it and if they ever recorded it.

Meanwhile, David Misch has sent me an MP3 and told me I can put it on the web. I just don't know where to put it, yet. (Any suggestions are welcome.)

I wish I could remember the name of the band, though I doubt they recorded it because it was one of those bands made up mostly of dads with day jobs who are just in it for the fun of playing gigs. Their cover was in lounge style, and the vocals were like this soomth-smarmy lounge singer. I never heard the original so I can't compare them, but it was totally a riot.

A number of local bands like that played gigs at WBRS over the years, and we recorded and archived everything. If you could remember there name I might remember if they ever played WBRS.

(though if they were all-covers, it's much less likely that the did, since we only had all-covers bands on Friday afternoons, not the much more numerous weeknight shows)

As you seem to be in touch with the author, you can see if archive.org will host it for you.

Just make sure it's a high-quality copy, if you have that option.

The Pernice Brothers have a song called Somerville on their new album, Live a Little. It's not as charming as the David Misch song, but it's still a shout out the the 'Ville.
