Over 30 in the Square?

Just out of curiosity, wondered how many of you folks are old like me. :) Hardly any of my friends are local these days, so looking to meet a few more neat, interesting folks, to chat with on an occasional cold winter night, preferably people a bit closer to my own age, who normally prefer cafes and movies to late nights in bars and clubs. So, what the heck-say hi if you like!

how about almost 30? ;)

[identity profile] artemii.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, i know what you mean. :) feel free to email me if you want (i've got an lj address).

[identity profile] halo-bender.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yup I'm almost 30 too. Does seem like most people i know in boston are mid 20's. I guess its just the colleges.

[identity profile] halo-bender.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well I mean like the other person who responded I'm almost 30.
I don't really feel like i'm gonna turn 30 either. In many ways I still feel like an adolesent.

Well if you ever have an "old person" in somerville get together let me know. :)

[identity profile] cowgrrl.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Hi! Um ... waaaay over 30 here! (In my 40's) is that too old? :) So yeah, I remember the 70's! In fact I remember the 60's!

[identity profile] ex-meta.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
Hi if you like!

[identity profile] ukelele.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
I do cafes and movies, don't do bars and clubs, and can't tolerate late nights, but I'm only 25 -- do I count? (I was alive during the 70s, but don't ask me to remember any of it...)

Anyway, I'm generally at the Diesel on Sunday mornings surrounded by a heap of Latin textbooks and a lesson planner. (So you can probably guess why I don't do late nights.) Feel free to say hi :).

Hi from another more quietly inclined mid-twenties Somervillian. Also, I noticed in your journal that you're in library school (and having the same sort of issues with it that I am, it sounds like), so presumably we're classmates. :)

[identity profile] ukelele.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, this is one of the major reasons I haven't bought a coffee maker -- I really would never leave the house if I had one ;).

[identity profile] noire.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'm definitely well over 30. Mid-late 30s, in fact. And I know a fair number of other people in the Davis area who are in the same age range as well. As to how many of them are in this lj community, however...???

I tend toward Diesel, usually Tues. evenings (poly folk meet,) sometimes for goffee (goth coffee on Thursday nights) and am contemplating taking the laptop down to work there possibly more often of an afternoon. (It's too busy in the evening for me to feel right about taking up an entire table, let alone a booth, to work.)

Sooo--"Hi."

and another one..

[identity profile] lachesis.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
Hi from me, as well. I just had a bday (last week) which puts me one year closer to the "1/2way to 40 mark"; but frankly if I act like I do now, then, then I'm not too worried about becoming "old". :) It's all a frame of mind anyway. I currently live in the area, but will probably be moving from it - however I still go to the same nights as noire mentioned above for coffee and convo. (I know noire IRL, as well. She's pretty nifty.) So, yeah... hi. :)

I turned 30 2 days ago. I don't feel much different...

My husband is over 30 as well.

So we're out there. ;)

I played a board game last night whose instructions said "the oldest player starts". It turned out that I was the only one (in a group of 8) who was 30 or over! That's the first time that's ever happened to me (I just turned 33). What's weird is that I could have sworn two or three other people there were around my age, but everyone was at least 4 years younger. I guess I'm just a terrible judge of people's age.

[identity profile] bds.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny. What board game?

[identity profile] dougo.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Citadels (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/viewitem.php3?gameid=478). The oldest player becomes the first King.

[identity profile] ukelele.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, fun game :).

[identity profile] jbsegal.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm newly 36 but have been crochety for far longer than that. :)

I rarely make it to the Diesel Tuesdays, but I know many of the people who do.

Hi.
cthulhia: (devilgirl)

he was 19 going on 40

[personal profile] cthulhia 2003-11-15 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
when I met him.

I was shocked and horrified to find out he's not enough years older than me.

which is a roundabout way of saying that I am over 30 too.

[identity profile] oakenguy.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Someone who just turned 34 here! I just moved out of the Square, though, three subway stops down the line.

[identity profile] hammercock.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
33 over here. :)

[identity profile] komos.livejournal.com 2003-11-15 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
All of my fabulous twenty-something friends say I'm old.

[identity profile] enochs-fable.livejournal.com 2003-11-16 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I've just hit the 30 benchmark.

But even when I was in my 20's, I was never much for the bar scene. I'm all for movies, nights of games and just hanging out talking.

I have to say, I'm glad Someday upgraded some of their furniture!

[identity profile] kalessin.livejournal.com 2003-11-16 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)

I'm 37, though I look a bit younger.

I'm another one of the people who tends to hang out in Diesel on Tuesday evenings. I wear a two-tone black and white leather jacket with "Vanson" in script across the back, and I'm usually playing cards at one of the booth tables. Ask for Joel. :-)

[identity profile] ukelele.livejournal.com 2003-11-18 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa. You do look younger.

lol..
