I believe this is an abuse of this board and is unsolicited commercial email.

Incidentally, I'm curious: you created your account four minutes before posting this comment. Have you been a long-time lurking reader who saw something in the post that sparked a need to de-lurk? Or is the timing coincidental?

This is not abuse, so go ahead and shut your mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a moderator to ask. This is by no means "unsolicited commercial email" (I don't even know what that means in this context, where it's not email, and there's no one to exactly solicit it; it's also not commercial, exactly).

The rules of the community say "Please limit ads of a commercial nature, especially if they're not specifically about Davis Square"; there's nothing that says "no ads, period". Whether Marathon St. in Arlington is an immediately surrounding area could be, perhaps, debated, though I live somewhat past that point into Arlington and I still think of myself as fundamentally a Davis-Squarean, so I'm willing to let it go.

In short: don't abuse the community, but a single housing-based ad isn't abuse.

As someone who follows the community, I did not have a problem with the ad. It looks like a private individual trying to sell their own condo. I would have a different opinion if it had been posted by a realtor, for example.

I think the most telling thing is that the ad was up for eight hours before someone mentioned a possible problem with it, and even then it has been a total of one person. Given that some of the posts in this community receive several dozen responses, I think the community has spoken with their silence.

It's nice to see that there's still beautiful homes in the reasonably affordable range not too far from Davis. I'm nowhere near ready to buy anything myself, but I'm getting kind of jealous of whoever does buy this place. Thanks for letting me daydream/windowshop a little :D. I've got some friends looking to buy who I'm forwarding this to. Good luck!
