64 Squares in the Square

Greetings all,

I'd like to announce the entrance of an esteemed chess club into our beloved Davis Square! The Boylston Chess Club has taken up residence across from The Burren. My understanding is that this is the oldest chess club in the United States, with the recent attrition and passing of the Marshall Chess Club in NYC.

Beginners are welcome, and will find learning opportunities and fair competition. World class masters attend, compete, and teach. Dues are $125 but I've been to numerous events without joining (non-members pay a couple dollars more for tournaments). Tuesday nights are speed chess for $5; members pay $3. Longer tournaments are run throughout the week.

If you have any thoughts not addressed on the web pages above, want candid opinions from someone who's not affiliated with the BCC, or just have general chess questions, feel free to write me: bs@vt.edu.

Hope to meet you across the board!
Brian

interesting. is this what's going into the spot next to Diva? There's now paper over the windows saying "Guess what's coming here? Bet you can't!"
