Knife Sharpener recommendations/suggestions?

Hi all-

I did a (admittedly half-hearted) search around the site and didn't see this anywhere, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I missed every weekend that the knife sharpener was at the Union Square Farmers Market this summer (I always happened to be there on the off-weekend!). Does anyone know of a good year-round sharpener? Holiday cooking reminded me of how dull my knives are getting...

Those are the same people that do the sharpening for Tags. It worked well for me. http://www.siracosharpening.com/

Do you happen to know whether these guys hand-sharpen the knives on a soap stone or use a grinding wheel?

No idea. But let us know what they say if you call them to ask...

Grinding belt/stone. They have the equipment in the van, and I watched them doing some work at Union Square. :)

Sorry that I was unclear. When I said "belt," I was indicating that it was electric. I realized that there was likely a stone attached to the device for the belt, so added "/stone" to clarify that it was a belt+stone setup. It is an electric machine.

If you want a whetstone grind, you can go to stoddards at the shops at chestnut hill.
