Do people have good names for someone who does snow clearing for hire in somerville? A friend is travelling and needs their place done. I don't think they're picky about whether it's some kids with shovels or a landscaping firm or what-have-you; just people who'll do a good job.

Thanks!

Hello Davis Square!I am so pleased to be returning to Diaper Lab, one of my favorite local stores and parenting resources, for mini-sessions in celebration of Mothers’ Day.  These minis will be offered in Diaper Lab’s outdoor space, directly adjacent to the store on April 16.

These sessions will be 15-20 minutes long, and I am delighted to be offering a $125 session fee which includes a $75 art credit, which can be used on any of my products — whatever fits your family’s needs the best!

What kinds of times are available?  I understand that every family has their own unique schedule, so I’m offering both Early Bird (6:30-9am) and later afternoon/early evening slots.  As a bonus for Early Bird clients, you will have the option of scheduling your Viewing & Ordering session the same day as your portraits — near-instant gratification!  For both Early Birds and clients who schedule for the later sessions, additional Viewing & Ordering appointments will be available the following day.

There is limited space available, so please send me an email (mira @ mirawhitingphotography.com) or fill out the contact form on my website, http://www.mirawhitingphotography.com/ .

I've been struggling for months to connect my computer to my receiver via audio cable without picking up an intermittent AM station or three. Different cables (laboriously routed) and various arrangements of ferrite cores have not addressed the problem. I need a local sound engineer to do a house call. How could I locate such a person, and not for an exorbitant amount of money?

Hello all. I'm looking for a dry cleaner in Somerville or surounding cities that will dry clean an infant's dress that is 42 years old. The dress is fragile and has incredible sentimental value. I'm willing to travel to ensure that the cleaner is top notch.

Thanks everyone! Happy New Year!!

I got my futon frame and a couple of other pieces of wood furniture fixed, and the guy deserves a recommendation. His name is Kris Kroutt, phone number 617-230-5050. Besides furniture repair, he does these things (quoting from his flyer): "painting, carpentry, masonry, tile, plastering, sheetrock." Also shovels snow, I think, and he took my AC unit out the window for me. "No job too small," he says, "and free estimates."

He repaired the furniture nicely including part of a treasured antique dressing table, was prompt in showing up when he said he would, and is generally businesslike. I'd hire him again.

(Ron, I am not sure how to tag this.)

Hi all,

I checked the tags and couldn't find anything on what I need: someone to fix the wooden frame of my futon/couch. Parts have started to separate from each other and I think all that needs to happen is to knock them back together and, I dunno, re-glue them or something, but I don't know how to do that. Do we know of anyone who would do it without wanting to move the thing to their workshop?

Thanks for any advice you may have!

http://www.betaboston.com/innovation-economy/2015/03/09/techhub-shared-workspace-founded-in-london-will-open-first-u-s-location-in-somerville/

TechHub, which operates a network of co-working spaces in India, Romania, Latvia, and the United Kingdom, plans to open in Somerville this month. And much like a card that will give you access to frequent flier lounges, a TechHub membership will let you work in any of the locations as you jet around the globe. TechHub was founded in London in 2010.

They also considered locations in the Seaport District before focusing on 7,500-square feet in a Citizens Bank building in Davis Square. They’re subletting space from Powderhouse Productions, a television production company.

They plan to open the Somerville TechHub next Monday, and to offer free usage for the rest of March. While the space hasn’t yet been fully built-out, Noakes describes it as a “minimum viable product” that they’ll continue adding to based on member input.

We received an outrageously high quote from a major chain store to hang our flat screen TV on wall and hook up remote control in closet behind TV.  (we want to hide cord and cable box) Our electrical work is already done.  (plug on wall behind tv and plug in closet behind TV for cable box)
Does anyone know of someone (independent or small business) in our community that could do this work?  Could not find anything tagged on this.

Thanks!!

I have a bunch of old, possibly rare, coins, and I'd like to find out their value. Can anyone recommend someone in the Greater Boston area who does this? Davis would be fantastic, but I'll travel a bit if I need to.

I'm looking for a local Wordpress website developer/team to salvage a relatively small and simple half-baked website after the initial developer had an emergency and abruptly left the area.  Prefer a well-established individual or business with a portfolio and references.  Anyone got any recommendations ? Thanks !

HI Everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations for a person or company to refinish the top of an antique table with sentimental value. Ideally somewhere in the Somerville/Arl/Camb/Medford area. Not looking to do it myself. I reached out to a few places I found on yelp or google but so far no responses, any suggestions?

Thanks

Does anyone have a commercial lease agent they'd recommend?

(My wife and I are looking for a location around here for our float tank center! If you're curious, information at http://www.floatboston.com.)

any recs for a knife sharpening place/service? The accusharp isn't working anymore.

I've been using a push mower for several years but this year it doesn't seem to be working very well on some of the weeds in my yard. We've sharpened the blades but I think I need to pull the old gas mower out of the basement. The gas mower we have was left by the previous renters who said it works, but I've never used it - is there a local place to take it to get it serviced - I'm sure the gas has gummed up and the oil probably needs drained. Thanks!

Having trouble getting recs for this so I figured I'd ask DSLJ: Any guitarists out there have recommendations for a guitar tech/luthier who's good with fretwork? I have a 20 year old strat with some pretty beat up frets. Dead notes make me sad. Doesn't need to be someone who's in Somerville/Boston/Cambridge necessarily, but inside 128 would be nice. Thanks!

My insurance provider (BCBSIL) lists almost a hundred clinical social workers within a mile of my house (Teele Sq), and over a thousand in the greater Boston area, so I'm hoping someone can help me narrow the list down.

I've got a UK investment that doesn't really line up with anything in US tax code, and so I need some professional advice on figuring out how it ought to be declared. Any recommendations in the local area?

Appraiser

I checked under business services and real estate and didn't find anything useful.

Has anyone used an appraiser (for condo valuation) that they liked?  Or does everyone just go with whoever the bank tosses at them?

Can anyone recommend a good (and reasonably affordable) accountant in Somerville?

Has anyone had old home movies (or other film) copied in digital format at a local business? Any favorites? Places to avoid?

Thanks so much.
