http://www.betaboston.com/innovation-economy/2015/03/09/techhub-shared-workspace-founded-in-london-will-open-first-u-s-location-in-somerville/

TechHub, which operates a network of co-working spaces in India, Romania, Latvia, and the United Kingdom, plans to open in Somerville this month. And much like a card that will give you access to frequent flier lounges, a TechHub membership will let you work in any of the locations as you jet around the globe. TechHub was founded in London in 2010.

They also considered locations in the Seaport District before focusing on 7,500-square feet in a Citizens Bank building in Davis Square. They’re subletting space from Powderhouse Productions, a television production company.

They plan to open the Somerville TechHub next Monday, and to offer free usage for the rest of March. While the space hasn’t yet been fully built-out, Noakes describes it as a “minimum viable product” that they’ll continue adding to based on member input.

I commissioned a portrait by a webcomic artist that I really enjoy (there was a fundraiser) and I'd like to get it printed and framed by the end of the month (ideally), when my parents visit. However, I know nothing of printing and framing! Does anyone have recommendations of where I should go for each part? (I'm looking through past "framing" posts on DS LJ, so I guess I'm more interested in printing recommendations, unless there's a new framer since 3 years ago.)

I assume that I'd ask the printer to print it at some standard size, and that the framing shop could then pick an appropriate frame and matting for me. Is that right, or should I already have a frame picked out?

Bonus for T-accessible locations; carrying a framed picture by bike would be annoying.

ETA: I ended up using Big Picture for the framing based on these recommendations, and they in turn recommended Gnomon Copy of all places for printing. So I went with that, even though the latter's pricing structure is exceedingly silly.

Can anyone recommend a cleaning service that would be able to come to Cambridge weekly to clean a small office building? Looking for affordability in particular (we're a nonprofit), and the cleaners must be willing to come in during business hours (~8am-6pm weekdays). Yelp reviews weren't helpful - they're mostly about one-time cleaning and I'm looking for long-term reliability. PM me if you need more details. Thanks!

How do I get a certified copy of something around here? I know it's not the same as notarized but don't know where to get one. . .

PMRP is preparing its podcast miniseries The Mask of Inanna for release on MP3 DVD and we're looking for some place to have it produced. We were initially going to go with DiscMakers, but decided to look for local options first. We have some special requirements for the packaging and someone we can work with on a face-to-face basis would be preferable.

Does anyone know of any printers/duplicators/packaging services in Somerville we can check out?

Thanks!

I need to get a few engraved plastic name tags quickly, and figure there must be some place locally that does these so I don't have to waste time/money on shipping. But I've never had to purchase such a thing and am at a loss as to where find such a business. Got any ideas?

Heya! I find myself in need of someone to print a run of 9x12 glossy full-color poster/flyers. Any recommendations on local places that you've had good experiences with? Many thanks!

I cleaned out old files and have a large pile of documents chock full of personal info ripe for ID theft.  It'll take all month with my ailing home shredder.  Is there someplace local I can take these to be destroyed?  Googling found some business services, but nothing useful to me.

Thanks!

I know Starbucks and Blue Shirt has wifi, but the former is often crowded and noisy, the latter doesn't have the most comfortable seating. The Somerville library (both West branch and main) are favorite spots for quiet study -- but the wifi is very unreliable. (I also wonder what I could do to help them improve the reliability of their network).

What places nearby do you find most conducive to studying with a reliable wifi connection when you need it?

Is there anywhere in the area that does document scanning? Nothing huge, probably 100ish pages. Driving distance is okay but prefer local. Thanks!

Is there any local business that offers photo scanning that could provide them to me on CD or USB? I planned to give my stepdaughter a digital picture frame for Christmas with a bunch of preloaded photos from when she was a kid however I did not plan on having my baby a little early (this coming Monday) and am now running short on time. I called a few places but they all said no.

I need to send a fax today. Does anyone know where in the area I can do this from? Thanks.

Is there anywhere I can go nearby to get an 11x17 high-quality color print (ideally on decent acid-free paper) on short-notice? Thanks!

(If anyone was going to suggest it, the UPS store on Highland, which I used once in an emergency to print a couple of signs, is terrible. The output was horrific quality and they tried to charge me for multiple prints even though the only reason we had to do it over was because their printer kept screwing up. Luckily, it was just for a Halloween costume, so the fact that the ink was bleeding all over the place wasn't that big a deal, but this one is actual art. :)

ETA: The art is graphical in nature, not photographic, if that affects anyone's response.

Would anyone know where I could get something laminated? Sounds like a job for a copy shop, but I don't even know if we currently have one in Davisland.

Thanks!

I work for a national food magazine based in Massachusetts. Several of our writers live in the area, and we're looking for a small satellite office or office share in the Davis/Porter zone.

Because we'll be working on creative projects, we're looking for a funky workspace with creative people.  The rent's got to be cheap ($200-400), but we will share any food/booze samples that come through.

You can drop me a line at englishw at me dot com with questions or offers.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if a shredding service in or near Somerville that will handle shredding a relatively small (maybe 10 lbs. of paper) amount of documents?

I have a 15.5" by 19.5" piece of paper I need to get scanned. My local Staples doesn't have a scanner big enough. So does anyone know of a copy shop in the area with a big enough scanner for the job?
