I know Starbucks and Blue Shirt has wifi, but the former is often crowded and noisy, the latter doesn't have the most comfortable seating. The Somerville library (both West branch and main) are favorite spots for quiet study -- but the wifi is very unreliable. (I also wonder what I could do to help them improve the reliability of their network).

What places nearby do you find most conducive to studying with a reliable wifi connection when you need it?

In my one brief experience there, I found the Arlington main library to have good wifi.

I'm an Arlington resident, and have been there often. They have excellent wifi and plenty of space.

Au Bon Pain has free wi-fi and the staff doesn't care if you stay there all day without buying anything.

The O'Neill Branch library on Rindge Ave. also has wi-fi, but I haven't used it.

Just curious -- why did you friends-lock this post?

If you have your default setting on your own journal to "friends-lock all," that will carry over as a default to your posts on communities. I don't think it was always thus, but it is now, so my guess is that the poster didn't actively do it, he or she just neglected to make sure it wasn't done.

The Cambridge Library on Broadway is amazing...plus lovely size windows.

It seemed fine when I was last there. If you are close by I would give it a try.

Oooh, I second this one. I love this library. I've been there a few times and never had wifi issues.

I've also used Porter Square Books. If you buy something and ask at the counter they'll give you a free hour - so I only go there when that's all I'll need.

Starbuck's has free wifi? I wasn't able to get it last time I was there - the signal was blitzed out by the Diesel front page. Hmm.

Haven't compu-studied around here for a while. But when I did, I liked Brown & Brew up College Avenue in Medford. Though it's mostly Tufts students, it's open to the public.
