I have a 15.5" by 19.5" piece of paper I need to get scanned. My local Staples doesn't have a scanner big enough. So does anyone know of a copy shop in the area with a big enough scanner for the job?

Nope. But I've had reasonably good luck with taking a bunch of close-up digital pictures of small parts of a huge document with significant overlap, and then letting Photoshop automatically stitch them together into one big one...

Does Kinko's in Harvard Square have such a scanner?

I have a large format scanner, max size is 12x17, you are free to use if you like.

There is a new Staples in Medford across from the Police Station that is just a copy and print center. They opened of Friday. Was in there this morning to get some 11x17 prints made. Looked like they had a large format scanner. Give them a shout.

Don't know of any in Davis; how far afield are you willing to go?
I'm pretty sure that Reproman Reprographics in Central Square could scan that, though I don't know whether they do walk-in scanning and copying. Their phone number is (or at least was) 617-354-0558.

I know that the CopyCop in Copley Square can scan 24x36" documents; I used them for scanning my school projects. I'm afraid I don't know of anything closer!

There's Budget Copy on Mass Ave near Teele. Not sure of their specific scanner equipment, but if you need the shop to be within walking distance of Davis Square, it might be worth a phone call!

My company, Baldwin Hill Art & Framing (http://www.baldwinhillframing.com), routinely scans oversized work for artists. We have a 12x17 flatbed scanner; we scan large items in pieces and then use stitching software to merge them together. We're located (http://www.baldwinhillframing.com/location) in Natick Center... a bit of a hike from Davis, I'll admit, but the shop is a couple blocks from the commuter rail stop...
