Day of Service on Monday

i'm looking for a way to celebrate/act on the National Day of Service on Monday. I went to USAservice.org, but it seems most of the close-by events are all full up. Bizarre and wonderful.

Anyone know of other activities happening in the neighborhood that would take two orphan would-be volunteers? should davis_square start an event of our own?

Perhaps some elderly folks...

May need the snow/ice on their sidewalk removed...

jd_science, I think if you look harder on that site, you will find some local opportunities that are not yet full.

For a celebration, I would recommend attending Somerville's MLK celebration 10am-noon at the high school Realizing the Dream--Dr. King's Legacy of Community Service" [USAService.org link (http://www.usaservice.org/page/event/detail/dayofservicejanuary19/4jgpl)] and [official city information (http://www.somervillema.gov/alert.cfm?alert_id=164)]

Howz about making peace/celebratory/diversity art in the snow for everyone to enjoy, especially near elderly housing, schools, and hospitals? Or make a community meal and invite your neighbors to enjoy it with you.
