Looking for PCP with evening/weekend hours...

Hi all,
I know questions about PCP near Davis are coming up all the time, this time I want to ask if someone knows about doctors who
1) are good
2) have evening/weekend hours
3) are near Davis
4) are female.
I'm looking for a new doctor and so far I tried to schedule an appointment with Dr. Fishman, but unfortunately she herself doesn't hold any evening hours, and the latest her nurse practitioners can do a physical exam is 6.15 (and I can't make it back from work till 6.30 at the earliest).
Looks like Dr. Rachel Berger at Harvard Vineyard has evening/weekend hours but I couldn't find any reviews on her. Is anyone seeing her?
I just started a new job and for a number of reasons to take time off right now to see a doctor would be really hard.
I really appreciate your help. Thanks!!
UPD: How about Debra Bershel?? Anyone saw her?

I used to see her. Very dismissive, cold and judgmental. Hated her.

Wow, I'm so glad that wasn't just me! I saw her once years and years ago and had exactly the same sense, so I switched PCPs right away.

Yeah I was a chump and stayed with her too long.. Now I know better

I'm assuming you're talking about Rachel Berger? She's my current PCP, simply because I'm too lazy to do the legwork and switch, but I agree with this statement entirely. Even though I, like, NEVER make appointments with her, I feel like a hypochondriac whenever I finally do and bring anything out of the ordinary to her attention.

[identity profile] wishful-knicker.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. I stayed with her for the same reason. She acted like I was lying when I told her about side effects I was getting from medication- I told her it made me gain 7 pounds in 2 days and she said I just ate more. (I had been on this med multiple times and this always happened and weight went away when meds were done).

Aren't all doctors pretty much like this?

[identity profile] nvidia99999.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Especially men?... They don't listen at all.

i have an awesome doc now-- Dr. Eleanor Janeway- Cambridge Health Alliance-- Doesn't talk down to me- is very respectful-- as are most docs there.. Don't settle for some asshole.

No, not really.

Gosh, generalize much?

Oh. This must be that 'trolling' I've heard so much about.

No. Get a new doctor.

I see Dr. Bershel and I think she's great (as is most of the staff at Davis Sq. Family Practice). Not sure how late they take appts, though.

Do you mean Harvard Vanguard?

[identity profile] phoenixy.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I go to Davis Square Family Practice and I've never had an appointment with Dr. Bershel but I really like nurse practitioner Marie Botte there. She meets conditions 1, 3, and 4; I don't know what her hours are.

[identity profile] josephineave.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
She is even a member of this community (though she doesn't contribute much). I've always used the NP/PA's there...it's much faster to get appointments.

[identity profile] josephineave.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Marie Bott, that is.

[identity profile] lonelyholiday.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. I used to see Dr. Brodsky at DSFP and stayed with them when she left because I like the office/staff and the location is so convenient. So Dr. Bershel is officially my new PCP, but I have not yet seen her. In my couple appointments since Dr. Brodsky left, I've only seen Marie Botte, and liked her a lot.

[identity profile] kelmit.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yah, I really like the Davis Square Family Practice-- both Marie and Dr. Bershel are really great-- good listeners, compassionate, friendly, attentive, patient. They have evening hours on Thursday nights.

[identity profile] kelmit.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
8pm? guessing.

[identity profile] kidsmokes.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
yes, Marie is great! I love her so much.

Finding a new doctor is such a pain...

The health care system in the US is a joke.

[identity profile] talonvaki.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
My PCP is awesome. I have to go all the way out to BWH, but it's totally worth it. I can email her!

[personal profile] ron_newman 2009-01-28 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
But what is her name?

Rachel Berger

[identity profile] mesh44.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Rachel Berger has been my doctor and my (lesbian) partner's doctor for about fifteen years and we are totally satisfied with her. She got us through two major health crises with her calm, competent manner. I always find her friendly, and she always remembers me. I would recommend her without qualifications. Before I started seeing Dr. Berger I bounced through several forgettable women doctors at Harvard Community Health Plan and MIT Health Services. I am 60 years old and in excellent health and I greatly appreciate the care I have gotten from Dr. Berger. She never hesitates to send me to any specialists at Harv Vanguard, even for the slightest hypochondriac fear I have (I think every little blemish is cancer.)

I'm thirding (fourthing?) the positive reviews for Marie Botte at Davis Square Family Practice. She's caring, compassionate, remembers who I am and how I'm doing, and always listens to me about what I have to say and any concerns I may have. I've never seen Dr. Bershel, but everyone I've encountered in DSFP has been very, very nice.

berger - my 2 cents

[identity profile] dahdahdahdancer.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a very bad experience with Berger when I was suffering with horrific, relentless shingles pain. (Well, first she misdiagnosed the shingles.) Anyway - after I left 3 phone messages begging for pain relief, she finally called back (days later), angry, and basically blew me off. No help at all. Zip. And she yelled at me besides. I switched docs.

[identity profile] moireach.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
It's Union, not Davis, but Dr. Susheela Subbarao at Union Square Family Health (part of the Cambridge Health Alliance) is AWESOME; she's definitely the best doctor I've ever had, really good at listening. They have some Saturday hours, too.

Dr. Bershel is great!

[identity profile] shana-lyons.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Since you updated to ask about Dr. Bershel, I'll chime in. She's been my PCP for a few years now. She's great with basic stuff but good even when you go to her with something weird. I got burned by coral scuba diving in Mexico 2 months ago and she really worked with me to find something to make the chemical burn go away. She even offered me her cell phone number to call her over the weekend if it wasn't improving. Give her a shot.
