powderhouse convenience store

on my daily trek to work i pass the abandoned corner store on college and broadway. as of yesterday the space was being gutted. i asked one of the workers this morning what was going in, he said a dunkin donuts and a convenience store. i guess they're subdividing the space?

i'm glad the storefront won't be empty, but... i don't know what this means for the broken yolk. (nice folks)

Why not rent to a competitor instead, like Honeydew or Marylou's or Peet's?

Presumably none of those businesses approached the realtors or the owners of the building wanting to rent the space.

I was thinking of this more in terms of the landlord actively seeking out tenants.

I don't know who the landlord is for that space, but the convenience store that was in there before did not seem like the kind of tenant a landlord would actively seek out.

Given the state of the inside of that place every time I looked, I was in the habit of calling it the inconvenience store.

I don't think the landlord cares very much, and it sure took them a while to fill the space, so perhaps not so actively seeking tenants either.
