Why so many Sheriff's cars at TAB building?

Went by the Tufts admin building ( old junior high between Broadway and Holland ) and there must have been at least seven county sheriff's cars parked on the Broadway side.

This usually means details for something that crosses city lines. Is there a parade or road race today? It could be related to Tufts graduation but that's not until Sunday.

But I'll bet there are tons of activities going on in those tents tonight and tomorrow.

It's been like that for several days. If you look carefully, you'll notice that they are *all* K-9 units. (At least they were this morning.) I'm guessing some dog training thing.

Seems like an odd place and time to do that, but oh well.

There's a Memorial Day parade, but that's not until Sunday, May 24. (Strangely, I can't find anything about it on the city website.)

Someone else posted that someone died on the tracks at Porter Square earlier today, and Porter Square T station is closed. Maybe it's related to that? Doesn't the commuter train go from Porter Square to near Tufts (or is that another track?).

The death was on the Red Line tracks (way underground), not the commuter rail tracks (on the surface). Also, the rail line through Porter and the line through Tufts are two different lines, diverging near Lechmere.

I spoke with one of the officers the other day, and they are doing K-9 training in the Powderhouse School. It's been unused for seven years, and it's a good place for training and a good opportunity to clean up the building, according to the officer.
