Check the jewelry shops in Downtown Crossing - not the cart vendors, obviously, but the actual stores, esp. the ones in the Diamond and Jewelry building. They've got loads of traditional and contemporary jewelry in metals like tungsten & titanium.
Decenza (sp?) in the Diamond and Jewelry building (6th floor I think) is where my husband and I got our wedding rings -- very nice, helpful people, wide selection and very cheap for the quality.
If you want to stay Somerville local, you may want to check Jade Moran jewelry on Highland Ave. Right outside of Davis really. I have a friend who's wedding band comes from her store and she really loves it.
I second the recommendation for Jade, as she's fantastic. I'm not sure if she does tungsten off the top of my head. I think when we were looking at our wedding jewelry, she couldn't do titanium because she didn't have a caster who could do it, but it's worth asking, particularly if you want custom jewelry done.
Gideon Weisz (http://www.gideonweisz.com/) operates out of Moran's store; I don't know what metals he uses, but he designs a lot of cool science-themed rings (I saw "tungsten" and immediately thought "science," but since I know nothing about wedding rings apologies if I'm way off-base!)
I'm of absolutely no help, but this is perfect timing. I got engaged literally yesterday, and my fiance said that the type of wedding band he liked was tungsten. Let me know if you find anyplace that you like, especially if it's local!!
My husband and I went to Joseph Gann in Downtown Crossing for Engagement and Wedding bands, and had a great experience. In addition to the usual gold and platinum, they also carry palladium, tungsten, and titanium. It's neat, old-fashioned shop.
I third Joseph Gann Jewelers. I bought my wife a beautiful engagement ring that had the exact setting she wanted after looking at many, many other jewelers. She and I then bought our wedding rings there and had them engrave the rings. Customer service is great, and the salesperson I was working with really helped to keep the engagement ring within my budget.
We love our rings (18K gold, non-matching but fit our individual styles plus custom engraving inside the band, btw). Alas, mine doesn't fit anymore (sniff sniff); hubby's ring cracked through the vertical some years ago, and we took it back to JG and they repaired it well enough.
I got a ring made by Tracey Jenkins at Green Spot Studios (http://www.greenspotstudio.com/) and I loved the work she did. Very striking, custom-made work.
I bought one for my guy online. I can suggest an excellent seller, and they're true to size, if you are having trouble finding a big enough selection, or decent prices.
