Need help moving 8/29!

I am sad to say that I will be leaving the Davis Square area after 4 great years to move to the cambridgeport area to be closer to my job.

I need someone's help moving out my stuff this Saturday 8/29. I don't have that much stuff, but some of it is too heavy for me to carry and just want some help loading/unloading a truck.

Having your own truck is preferable, but I'd be willing to rent a UHAUL if necessary. I'll pay my moving helper $20/hour. Reply to this post if you're interested with your e-mail and I'll be in touch.

Just fyi, all of the U-hauls in a 50-mile radius are unavailable until September 2nd. :-/ Some car rental places will rent large pickup trucks, though.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

yeah, this is one of the two big peak moving times (the other being the end of the school year when all the college kids move out). if you don't have a Uhaul reserved already, you probably won't get one. even if you *do* have one reserved, you may not get one, as sometimes Uhaul decides that its reservations are only suggestions, not guarantees.

ETA: if you are unable to find professional movers or people on davis_square to do hefting, you can probably find day-laborers at foss park across from the dunkin donuts. a lot of folks hang out there for ad-hoc day labor work.

Zipcar has at least one pick up truck in Davis. We used it this past weekend (right during the weekend's one rain downpour, of course :-/)
