Some Parking Sanity
Somerville News article posted this afternoon about Traffic Commission scaling back on permit requirements on certain streets at night before 2am in order to allow visitors to park for shopping, dining, etc.

still problematic for those watching epic movies though?

here's what I want to know:
How far away would one have to move to be considered not parking longer than 2 hours in any one spot?
I remember reading something in the Globe about in Boston it has to be a different block (which of course is problematic in places where there are few cross streets). I wonder if Somerville has any kind of rule defining this?

With this change, they'll be 2 hour parking except by permit from 8 AM - 2:30 AM, and permit only from 2:30 AM - 8 AM.
So there's still no provision for staying longer than 2 hours, even in the evening, even if you're willing to pay for it. And it will be illegal to drive to a business that's open before 8 AM.
Then there's all the other streets that are going from unrestricted to permit-only at all times.
