The end of Bowl & Board - NPR story today

WBUR's All Things Considered just now ran a report on Bowl & Board's decision to close down and liquidate. The text and audio of the story are here:

A Retailer's Journey Ends With Liquidation

This was the seventh and presumably final part of an NPR series on Bowl & Board, starting last December. This page has the entire series:
Bowl & Board: A Retailer's Struggle To Survive

That's really sad. I loved that store.

Well, given that my reaction to the merchandise every time I went in was "wow, this is really pretty... and I can't afford it..." I can't exactly say I'm surprised. The story says they were hoping from a lot of business from college students, but that's stupid if your prices are so high that middle aged professionals feel that the store is unaffordable.

It is sad to see a local place not make it. But it never really seemed a good fit for Davis or that space.

I had something on order with them. Does anyone know how I would find out what happened to that?

I, too, had something on order from them. Please let me know if you find any recourse and I'll share my experiences as well.

(So much for support your local businesses.)

Any luck so far? We also had an order with them. Are sad about the potential loss of our new amazing couch. Just e-mailed the gmail account.

ooh, not a minute later I get a response from Mark. He says they paid vendors up front and are just trying to work out logistics. Let's hope it works!

Wait, what?

Not yet... haven't heard back from him since then. I don't know what's happening with our couch.

I no longer live in Boston, so can't check it out. We paid for the couch, and were promised delivery to Washington DC, but have not received it.

Damn... There were lots of things there I kept meaning to go buy, but just didn't get around to it. I really liked that store.
