Robbery outside Market Basket just now, description

This is a little outside Davis, but a woman was robbed at knifepoint for her purse and almost carjacked a few minutes ago in the parking lot.

The police are looking for a white male, 6 feet tall, wiffle haircut, blue eyes, thin build, clean-shaven. Wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt with some writing on it, and blue jeans.

He may have run towards Union Square. Carrying a woman's pocketbook, black. And a good-sized knife with a black handle.

If you've seen anything like this, please call the Somerville Police.

Holy hell. Any sense of the guy's age (20s, 30s, 40s)?

Ugh. That's upsetting, especially since I have a grocery run planned there this afternoon...thank you for reporting it here, at any rate.

Buzzcut with a little left on the top.

Funny, I've not heard "whiffle" in 40 years. Zmgmeister must have Boston roots. I think this is a local term. A wiffle is a buzz cut, however as I recall it was not as close as today's buzz. Typically 1/2". Right up there with "pissa" and "wicked".

Wiffle was still a popular cut in the late 70's early 80's and we used that term back then.

Same guy who stole the bike?
