Just for some perspective...

Joe Curtatone, while winning the election for mayor, was voted in by less than 8% of Somerville's human population.

My cat.

I wonder what cats would vote for in Somerville, if they were able to vote.

City-wide distribution of can openers that could be worked without opposable thumbs?

Dumber mice!

...but what do the mice want? and do they have more of a voice, since they are more numerous? or less, since they are smaller?

You're forgetting a major part of the population

It is estimated that 5 x 1030 bacteria live on Earth.

Scaling by square area, the City of Somerville is 4.2mi2, while the area of the Earth is 510,072,000km2.

By my calculations, there are an estimated 106,631,515,374,300,098,809,579 bacteria in the City of Somerville; a number so large that all other flora and fauna are insignificant.

and to put that number in perspective, scientists once estimated that there are 7,500,000,000,000,000,000 grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth. Or, there are over 14,000 times the number of bacteria living in Somerville than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth.

Bacteria always vote as a block, so it's a good thing they're disenfranchised. It would be tyranny of the unbelievably vast majority, otherwise!

The bacterial block vote

And you know what they'd want...

My cat actually wants a complete curtailment of all social activities in the city. Things like fireworks displays and Artbeat and stuff of that nature means that I leave the damn house. He does not like it when I leave the house. Leaving the house is not something his person Should Do.

So whomever completely destroys all public social activities will get big points with the polling district of Thespian's cat.

Re: But dones't you cat get to play when you are away?

nope. This cat...has some issues. I had a gentleman up from New Jersey a year ago who stayed.....in my bed, and the resentment was palpable. If he was bigger than me it would totally be IT PUTS THE LOTION IN THE BASKET.

I know what mine would vote for, she'd vote for my ass getting up to give her wet food at 5:30 am. That's what she votes for EVERY DAY.
