Davis-area car owners, what mechanic do you use? We've just 'inherited' a car that needs an inspection (and probably other things in the future), and need to know the best place to take it to.

I've been happy with Ideal Engine on Day St. Don't know if they do state inspections.

My roommate and I both take our cars to Teele Sq. Auto on Broadway near North Street. They're pretty good.

My neighbors and I use Streetwise Auto in Somerville. They're very courteous, honest and thorough mechanics.

My last car inspection was done by Teele Square Auto, and I wasn't all that impressed. They're okay.

Don't know about the inspection...I just take it in to anyone who's open except for Jack's Gas on Mass Ave. That guy's a real asshole.

If you need repairs, there's no one better than the Arlington Motormart (especially the mechanic Jim Fisher). It's near Arlington Center on Pond Lane, you can get home on the 77 bus, and it's well worth the 5 minute drive. I've been taking my car to Jim for years.
