DSLJ Bowling Party Pix!

The DSLJ Ball Square Bowling party last night was a big success! 30 people showed up and we had a great time. So much so that we hope to do it again in the summertime. The formerly mysterious private bowling alley has turned out to be a previously untapped resource for party hosting. It's available Saturday evenings for private parties of 20 or more. If you want the contact number, just e-mail me.

I want to hear everyone's high low scores! And if anyone else took pics, get your links up!

UPDATE: Check out [livejournal.com profile] r_dorissa's superior pix!

No, leave it up please!

I didn't keep my score sheets, but I think my high score was somewhere in the mid-70s. [livejournal.com profile] theodosia beat me in three straight games, even though she'd never rolled a candlepin ball in her life before last night. She also wore an awesome Canadian bowling shirt that she found in a thrift shop.

Thanks for organizing! It was a lot of fun. My highest score was somewhere in the 70s, I think, though of interest is my last game, in which my group decided to take only turn per round, and I managed a score (I think) in the 50s. What.

[identity profile] mattlistener.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
My scores in 3 games were 68, 84, 90. Good times!

[personal profile] ron_newman 2010-02-07 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
90! Was that the high score of everyone all night? You must have gotten a strike or two.

[identity profile] surrealestate.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Marcus hit 92 in one came and a woman next to us (I don't recall her name, she was with Rob?) got a 99!

[identity profile] blackdove24.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Snap, I totally missed that somehow! (Oh, and the woman who was with Rob was Amy.)

I think my favorite part was when we all got experimental with the bowling. Group bowl FTW!

>Was that the high score of everyone all night?

Dunno, I didn't ask around. I got one strike for the night but it was in my 84 set. I did make two spares for the 90 tho.

For geek value, we should get people to give their scores to someone at the end, if we do this again, which we should.

[identity profile] soft-shoulder.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Don't know yet, depends on my crazy work schedule. Was it d and d night Saturday?

[identity profile] diego001.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, actually. I was off in Rhode Island for the 36th Annual Black Rose Ball (http://kaousuu.net/blackrose/event.htm) with the SCA.

Yes, I'm that big of a nerd.

Who's so psyched in the second photo? Not that I'd know him, it's just a great photo. :)

[personal profile] ron_newman 2010-02-08 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know him either, but [livejournal.com profile] plumtreeblossom above said he is [livejournal.com profile] docorion .

[identity profile] icecreamempress.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
That looks so fun! You guys are like old-school adventurers, only with bowling instead of rainforests.

[personal profile] ron_newman 2010-02-08 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
We're going to do it again this summer. Come join us!

Nice pix!

Hey folks,

Amy (non-LJ user) and I had a really fun time. It was great to meet so many of you.

I took a bunch of photos too, and I hope to have them up in the next couple days...

Victory Dance!

[identity profile] mud-puppy.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
This was such a fun event, thank you for organizing it! I'd love to go again sometime.

Oh, and Thanks for posting the pictures, I love that one of [livejournal.com profile] docorion taking his victory dance. Our Tom is so cute :)

[identity profile] genesayssitdown.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] progressnerd.livejournal.com 2010-02-09 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
That was really fun, thanks!
High score: 105
Low score: 84

[identity profile] mem-winterhill.livejournal.com 2010-02-09 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, that was like time travel. What a hoot!

Thanks so much for arranging that. I don't remember my scores, but each time they improved at least incrementally...so I guess that meant there was a smidge of a learning curve?

Great time. I'd definitely do that again.

[personal profile] ron_newman 2010-02-09 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
What I always find frustrating about candlepin is that my aim and scores do not improve over the course of the evening. Often they get worse.

[identity profile] r-dorissa.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)

I mainly stuck around my lane, but there are some photos from the opposite perspective and "behind the scenes":

Wow, I've never seen a photo of the pinsetter equipment before. Looks very industrial!

[identity profile] r-dorissa.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It was pretty neat, and the machinery looked like it operated rather reliably...
