It's the little things....

So Diesel no longer toasts bagels anymore :( and I'm just not crazy about untoasted bagels for some reason. Is there another place in the square (besides Dunkin Donuts) to get a bagel fix first thing in the morning?

Katz's Bagels in Chelsea, which is one of the few real bagel bakeries in the area, also refuses to toast bagels, since they say toasted bagels are no good. But when bagels are still hot from the oven, as they often are there, it's not an issue.

Wow, way to miss the point of the post.

But since [livejournal.com profile] bobobb IS the original poster, this quickly gets meta.

Which just makes the whole rant even more ridiculous:

and I'm just not crazy about untoasted bagels for some reason.

That being said - way for me to miss that he was the OP.

Here's your internet, [livejournal.com profile] oakenguy, you earned it.

I get bobobb's point--unless bagels are really excellent and fresh, bobobb only likes them toasted.

I might or might not agree with that.

They are often hot from the often? How many hours a day? (I'm asking seriously here. I've never known of any place in the Boston area where you could reliably get still-warm bagels anytime past crazy-early.)

(Also, speaking as a Broolyn-born and -bred Jewish bagel snob, I enjoy toasted bagels.)

You can reliably get still-warm bagels at Kupel's in Brookline, if you call a few days ahead of time and ask them to make you a batch to be picked up at your specified day/time. Of course, there's a four-dozen minimum, but in my family, four dozen is less than a week's supply.

Even putting aside the fact that I'd end up with Kupel's bagels, calling a week ahead to pick up four dozen bagels at a specific day/time is so far outside the realm of what I meant that I don't even know where to begin. :)

haha...okay I'll admit I was extemporizing a bit, but we love Kupel's bagels, on account of we are Boston-born and -bred Jewish snobs, and calling them on Friday to request four dozen for Monday is about as planny-aheady as we get. ;)

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought Katz's makes multiple batches per day, and I've gotten hot bagels on weekend nights.
