So Diesel no longer toasts bagels anymore :( and I'm just not crazy about untoasted bagels for some reason. Is there another place in the square (besides Dunkin Donuts) to get a bagel fix first thing in the morning?

Date: 2010-03-04 05:12 pm (UTC)The two reasons I was given were:
1. Toasting dries the bagels out and reduces their quality.
2. Toasting takes too much time and slows down their lines/work.
I'm guessing it is really the second reason, because who are they to say whether the customer should like a lower quality, drier bagel -- which apparently I do!
Anyhoo -- any other place to get a toasted bagel?

Date: 2010-03-04 06:56 pm (UTC)that said, if i cared about the issue i'd ask to speak to an owner/manager and ask that they change the policy back. (i actually can't stand any of the baked mediocres at diesel, except the bread pudding, which hardly counts....)

Date: 2010-03-05 01:48 am (UTC)also, if you are making the trek to brookline, Kupels is the best bagel in the area. Bagels by US isn't a bad second (over in Arlington). I personally don't like toasted bagels but diesel really isn't hip enough for those excuses not too. In fact I wonder if it was just a lame server?

Date: 2010-03-07 12:29 am (UTC)besides the broken yolk further up, there's my favorite coffe shop in ball square, those guys are awesome- and so are their muffins. i went in recently, having had my wisdom teeth removed, and asked for a pile of scrambled eggs with cheese and they gave me a whole bowl full (and i was too sore to eat it so i had to take some home)!
