It's the little things....

So Diesel no longer toasts bagels anymore :( and I'm just not crazy about untoasted bagels for some reason. Is there another place in the square (besides Dunkin Donuts) to get a bagel fix first thing in the morning?

Odd

Sounds odd. Why would toasting a bagel take longer than toasting a piece of bread? Fwiw, I never thought the bagels they serve were very good but were certainly improved by toasting.

Maybe this isn't "policy" but one worker's preference?

bagels take longer to toast because they are denser and thicker.

that said, if i cared about the issue i'd ask to speak to an owner/manager and ask that they change the policy back. (i actually can't stand any of the baked mediocres at diesel, except the bread pudding, which hardly counts....)

It does take longer, because you can't do it in an ordinary slot-toaster.

Well this is a silly topic... no matter. There certainly are toasters that handle bagels AND regular toast. Wow, ain't modern life sweet. And toasting bread vs a bagel == no difference.

This has to be some simple misunderstanding (or cranky worker).

Well, yeah, there are said toasters. But they may not have any of said toasters and therefore have to toast bagels via another method?

I mean, it takes me longer to toast a bagel at my house because they don't fit into my ordinary slot toaster and I have to do it in the toaster-oven. This may be the case at Diesel as well.

Yes, you are completely right.

the thing about this is though, this isn't an individual's home, it's a business. i can't imagine a conveyor belt toaster like dunkin and other places have can be that huge of an investment.

(old thread i realize, but just catching up on comms tonight :D)
