Since Marisol has been missing for over a week now, we're asking people not to actively go looking for her but to keep helping us spread the word so people who see her know to call us right away.

It's a tricky thing -- we want her to feel safe in her current hiding spot in the Fells (it normally doesn't get a ton of foot traffic) and she seems to be coming out and playing with some dogs. Once we get some more sightings, we'll set up a feeding station for her and try to get her to visit that spot regularly.

She's been roaming for so long now that she's in "survival mode," not "pet" mode, so she will most likely run away if called or startled.

My dog and I roam the Winchester side of the Fells a lot. Can you be more specific about sightings? I'd be happy to veer off our normal trails if she has a preferred place that you know of.

But when was it deemed that poor Marisol was attacked by a pitbull? I never saw any such identification in the owner's post or on the find Marisol website

The owner posted this in response to my query for more information:

"The contact information (name and phone number) that the man gave our dog walker turned out to be false. The neighbors are keeping an eye out for his blue pick up truck so they can get his license plate number -- they've seen him and his dog around and said it's a pit bull that usually doesn't have either a collar or a leash. The dog has been aggressive toward other dogs before, and usually the owner punches the dog in its head to get it under control.

Unfortunately, that's all the information we have, but I'll post if we hear anything else. The owner of the dog who jumped in to protect our dog is trying to track him down (her dog was badly bitten and was in the hospital overnight)."
