Swimsuit season's coming up

Perhaps someone already asked this, but...

Where in the Somerville area has anyone gone to have things like waxing done?

This is not the sort of thing you want to randomly chance that the person doing the job has a heavy hand or a poor bedside manner. I don't know if all places that provide this service do Brazilian waxes by default, but recommendations for that would be good.

Looking for decent price as well as comfort in the whole process. Thanks for any suggestions.

Priscilla at Skin and Body Works is a goddess.

how much?

i've actually heard someone recommend mario's before, which i found to be odd. i've never been in there, but just from looking in, it looks more barber-shop-ish to me. who knows though.

Mario's! I used to get my hair cut there but the music was so loud and the stylists talked so much! My head spins just thinking about it.

A basic wax last summer was $30, I think, don't quite remember. I know they went up on their prices a little this fall. My eyebrows used to be $10, now it's $12.

I can't recommend Priscilla enough. She is just wonderful. Tell her Kristin sent you!

brazillian wax for $30? sounds way too cheap. is that at mario's or skin&body?

ok i just checked (i had saved the link in memories) http://www.livejournal.com/community/b0st0n/2831459.html.

so they say rosa at mario's for $30. i'm skeptical b/c a. that sounds really cheap and b. she says you're in & out in 20 minutes and i don't want a rush job. but.... maybe it's worth trying? i'm kinda curious.

I am very fond of J's on Highland Ave (down about a 10 miute walk from Davis.) There's only the one lady, the owner, and she's great.

I only have second-hand eyebrow experience from Skin and Body Works, but they keep my beloved from looking like a cross between Karl and Groucho Marx, so they are *all* good by me.

My best brazilians ever were given by an aesthetician named Kerrie Ann Bacci. I believe she works at Salon Austin now, on Newbury Street. I followed her from salon to salon until I stopped getting them--she's fantastic.

A-Salon in Arlington (and easy bus ride) has a woman named Bella who was an RN in the Ukraine, and became an aesthetician when she came to the US. She does a good job and is very very nice, and there is just something comforting in having a former RN do somethings.

I had a former roommate also have Svetalana do her, and she was happy.
