sunday 8pm, ilyaimy at the burren
on wednesday night, i stopped by the burren back room to see a band called "ilyaimy", as recommended to me by my band's sound guy:

...and they are GOOD. it is just the two people, rob on guitar and vocals, heather on vocals (often close harmony), djembe, and more guitar. they had a pickup djembe player sometimes, a guy who runs an open mic on tuesday nights. the sound reminds me a bit of ani difranco from the era when she was touring with just andy stochansky -- catchy, elaborate, percussive guitar, a bit of drumming, interesting lyrics. the vocal harmonies were really nice. they mostly did originals, which i respect, and they tossed in a cover of jethro tull's "locomotive breath" that made me very happy :) we bought all their albums and went home.
they'll be back at the burren on sunday may 1 at 8pm. i'll be going back to see them again too. highly recommended :)
