iPad screen repair?

Best place to get a hairline crack in an iPad 1's screen repaired? It's still responding to touch and everything, so nothing else is broken. It's completely out of warranty, so it doesn't matter whether it's a licensed Apple repair shop or anything, as long as they do a good job.

You might try The Computer Loft in Allston- I know they do Apple repairs, but I don't know if they're doing iPad right now. Also there's this place: http://www.bostoniphonerepair.com/services/ipad-2

Boston iphone repaid did a great job on my iphone too. I drove over it! They replaced the shattered screen and the phone has been great ever since (about 9 months now...). They also give a discount if you mention Yelp. Dunno about ipads, but good luck.

I had one positive and one negative experience with them.

The good: they fixed my iBook when the logic board needed replacing, and got it covered under Apple's replacement program (it was a known issue with that model).

The bad: I took my external hard drive to them when it crashed and took my data with it. When they couldn't get it to mount, they reformatted it without asking me, which is pretty much the stupidest thing to do in that situation. It meant that specialist data recovery experts didn't stand a chance at recovering the lost info.

So yeah. They're Mac experts, but make sure they check in with you before doing anything major.

I will have to call them and see if they handle iPad 1 repairs -- they only list prices for the iPad 2, but they might. I had found them via google but wanted to ask around before just throwing money at a random place.

I believe there is a place above Bloc 11 also- I have not gone there but others here have mentioned it before

Yes the place above bloc 11 is called ifixyouri. I used the for a new iphone screen and they did a good job at almost half the cost of the Apple store. They claim to use real OEM parts.
