CSA Recommendations?

I need to find a new CSA this year, and so I'm looking for recommendations on ones that have pickups in Davis or close by.

(I love the farm I had a share with the last two years, Warner Farm, but they deliver to my university, and I'm hoping to graduate this summer.)

I've used Parker Farms for the past to years. https://sites.google.com/site/parkerfarmma/csa/2011-csa-sign-up

I was also going to recommend Parker. Last year was my first year (and my first time doing a CSA) but it was pretty awesome.

Also like Parker Farm!

Fourthed. Been with Parker since 2006 myself. During that time (due to shared shares) I've also tried a bunch of other local CSAs and imho, Parker gives you the best bang for your buck. Plus the quality is top notch.

Yep, fifthed. Been with Steve for several years now and he always does a great job.

It's not a CSA, but I'm a fan of http://www.bostonorganics.com/ (http://www.bostonorganics.com/)

First Root Farm has a pickup 1 block from Davis proper and they're awesome. We were a subscriber last year and happily re-joined: http://firstrootfarm.com/community-supported-agriculture/share-options-and-cost/

Brookfield dropoffs are in East Arlington on the 87 and in Cambridge near Porter.

Been with Brookfield since forever and love it!

We've been with Parker Farms for a long time, and love it. The small share is still pretty big -- I think it feeds 2-3 people weekly. But you can split a share if that's your preference. See if someone else wants to do so, maybe? :)

It's a bit more (around $500 for a small share) but I love World Peas. They include fruit so you don't need a separate fruit share and sometimes you get something like honey or cider. It's a collaborative rather than one farm. They do have a work-share option but you need to be free to do it during the work week.

We used Parker Farms for a few years, switched to Brookfield, and we're much happier with Brookfield.

I had a good experience being part of The Food Project CSA http://thefoodproject.org/ for the past couple of years. I split it with a friend (we alternated weeks), so the cost felt reasonable and we liked their mission. Our pickup was over on School St. so that's really closer to Union, but might be far if you're car-less from Davis.

I can't personally vouch for any others, but a friend of mine was part of the Enterprise CSA for awhile and seemed to like it. They have a pickup at Kick@ss Cupcakes.

Just wanted to chime in with a post I recently wrote (http://somervillebeat.com/food/2985/a-guide-to-csas-in-somerville-and-cambridge/) about the CSAs that deliver to Somerville and some parts of Cambridge. Hope it helps!
