Selling a car

Hi Davis Square folks, I'm sadly (very sadly) relocating out of the area in a month, but would like to sell my car that has an outstanding loan on it. Do I have any good local options (local car dealer..?) before I succumb to craigslist or a dealership? Advice?

Thanks for your help!

Avoid Carmax.

They gave us a final offer of 10% of the Kelly Bluebook value on a car, and because it wasn't legal to drive (expired plates), and we had had it towed down there, we had to take it. The check they gave us didn't even cover the tow. We were... irritated.

My husband wrote a more full account of the expreience (http://www.yelp.com/biz/carmax-north-attleborough#hrid:zUiliXUB3sOsFRNCN3TfZA).

I had nothing but headaches from craigslist so I paid for a listing on cars.com (which at the time also listed on boston.com but I'm not sure if that's still true). I got several responses the next day and sold it the day after.

I think most dealers will basically offer about half what its worth.

Try Cargurus.com! It's a website - but it is local - out of Harvard Square.
