Nature walk this Sunday

I'm a local field naturalist, and I'm running a short nature hike on Sunday, Sept 15 from 1-2:30 pm. The theme is Bike Path Botany! Have you ever wondered what's growing in your neighborhood? We'll wander the bike path and hear some interesting and peculiar facts about local plants. Beginners & non-botanists are welcome - you won't have any trouble keeping up. Meet in Davis Square at the Holland St. T entrance.

How neat! Is this a kid-friendly activity?

This sounds like fun! Thanks for announcing it here.

One of my kids is the same age as [livejournal.com profile] surrealestate's and I'd guess that they might have more fun poking sticks at the dirt and picking up rocks than actually learning biology, but if the talk leader doesn't mind that, it sounds like fun to me. :)

My whole family is so excited for this. (My daughter def. qualifies for nature-lover and good attention span.)

Aug! There are so many fun things this weekend and I'll be out of town! I hope you have a great time, and that you do it again sometime since this sounds rad.

I'm busy on Sunday, but I really hope you do something like this again. I'm very new to nature-y things and something easily accessible like this seems like a good way to dip my feet in the water.

Agreed, thank you so much for this walk!

We had a book-recommending discussion at the end, and I don't remember all the names that were brought up, but I thought I'd post a few:

The Nature of Massachusetts -- published by Massachusetts Audubon Society
Deerland: America's Hunt for Ecological Balance and the Essence of Wildness -- Al Cambronne
