laundromats

I searched through the past 60 entries or so and didn't find any mention of this, so I'm going to go ahead and post...

Can it truly be that there are no laundromats in the immediate Davis Square area? The closest ones seem to be in Teele, Powderhouse, and Clarendon Hill, or over in North Cambridge (and even then, only one that could reasonably be accessed walking from Davis Square).

Is there one somewhere that I'm just missing?

There are two on Highland, depending on how far up you go. Both on the left.

Is the one on College Ave just up from the Store 24 still there (Winn Cleaners, I think)? It's small and doesn't have the greatest hours, but when I lived in Davis Square that's where I went.

There's also one on Beacon, by the Star Market, and one on Somerville Ave, I think, near the Thirsty Scholar.

FYI, there are two in North Cambridge which are ready walking distance from Davis -- your map of Cambridge only shows one of them (The Scrubby Bubbles). The North Cambridge Laundomat (617-547-1337) is at the corner of Cedar and MassAve, right where the bike path crosses it.

I second the Highland Ave laundromat -- it's about a block outside of Davis, on Highland, on the left, and the owners are quite friendly.

I agree

they're very sweet, and quick to help in case you're standing in front of a triple loader looking confused about the detergent.
