Do you have an abandoned RCN remote control?

We're cancelling our RCN services (moving to Comcast for the time being to save a few tens of dollars/month). It looks like sometime in the last decade we lost our RCN branded remote control (a multifunction remote meant for use with a Motorola set-top box), which means they're going to charge us for it when I return the equipment. I'm curious if anyone here has one lying around they'd like to get rid of -- maybe left by a previous tenant, or something.

Thanks!

sorry

Don't have one but had to tell you that Comcast lets you keep them......

Add it to the list of reasons to switch...

this is a terrible reason to switch. remote controls are such a wasteful commodity. the fact that Comcast treats them as disposable hardly surprises me, but it's not something I want to champion.

In related news, I have an old RCN remote that I can't bring myself to throw away because I was hoping one day I might read a post like this on craigslist. My dream has come true!

Are you sure they are going to charge you? If you return decade old equipment to Comcast, they just get rid of it - it is too obsolete to rent again. I'm sure this remote is of no use to RCN anymore either.

You may want to look into simply asking RCN for the introductory rate package and telling them you'll switch if they don't give it to you. I hear that works for some folks. Comcasts actual service is so terrible that the extra phone call ought to be worth it, at least to check.

I completely agree, that's not something to reward. I'm sorry that your experience with them has been so bad; they've been a real peach for me.

I guess you decided you didn't really want an RCN remote?

well if you find out they charged you for the remote, let me know and i'll happily give you mine.

When I returned my RCN stuff, I forgot my remote. I just told the lady at the RCN office "I'm sorry, I forgot my remote" and she told me not to worry about it.
