Can anyone recommend a dog kennel in the area that is not a craphole, or even better if someone has a good experience somewhere please post :D. Im going on vacation in April for a week and have two small dogs to find a place for. Thanks.

Edit: Also, my jack russell is terrified of caged only kind of kennels, he had a bad experience before i got him when he was 9 weeks old and really has a fear of cages/kennels when he is in them for extreme long times. so i want a place that will walk them about 3x a day at least...

the only kennel i know of is way out in sudbury (i think), which is probably too far. i think it's called best friends, and my parents take their dog there and she really likes it. (well, they do too, but she never minds going.)

i took my cats to it once and they really, really did not like it. no idea if it is better for dogs.

An old friend of mine runs Pupperiffic (http://www.pupperiffic.com/), and she's great with dogs. While she doesn't run a kennel herself, I'm sure she would be happy to recommend a good one to you if you contact her. Tell her Mo sent you :o)

Would you be willing to have someone visit them at home in their natural surroundings? modpixie is a one-woman licensed dog walker/house sitter/cat player extraordinaire with reasonable fees.

I so highly recommend Pet Companions (http://www.petcompanionsinc.com/). I have left my dog there very confidently. They are cage-free (so require a temperament test prior to your leaving your dog there). They are in Redding, about 30 minutes from here up 93.
