So... it's like 1am. Is there anywhere in Somerville to get some food?

Or better yet, is there anywhere that might actually deliver this late?

I know it's a long shot... but still...

If you want to drive, the McDonald's on 28 near the mall is open 24 hours, I think. Also, Porter Square Shaw's.

isn't that Chinese place on College Avenue open real real late, like 2:30?

Also, White Hen at Porter Square makes sandwiches and even has some tables where you can sit down and eat them.

Um, no (http://forms.shaws.com/Utilities/storehours_popup.cfm?store=504).

As of like 3 nights ago, they're 24/7. I'm sure they haven't changed the website, yet.

I wrote to them and said they need to change the website, but they haven't yet.

There's a 24-hour Convenience store on Mass Ave. close to Davis SQ. Basically just take the road the Bowling Alley is on to Mass. Ave and it's right across from the church. It used to be a White Hen, but is now a different chain. But still the same basics.

Um, yes:

Learn to pay better attention. I mean holy shit, it was posted 2 days ago and generated a big discussion.

God, this thread reminds me how much I miss the 24/7 diners of the Mid-Atlantic. All these suggestions of MacDonalds and supermarkets... No. It's just not the same! :-)

It's called Bread & Butter Konvenience [sic]. Not a chain, just a local store. That spelling bugs me every time I walk by it.

Not as good as White Hen was because they don't make sandwiches there on demand. They only sell packaged sandwiches, presumably made somewhere else.

White Hen

Ooh! This is good. Thanks. I'm a White Hen fan myself.

You may not like this news, then: 7-11 bought White Hen last month.

The chain "will continue to operate for the near term as they have," 7-Eleven said in a statement, leaving it unclear whether the White Hen name and identity would survive long term.

"They haven't made any decision at this point," said Toni Antonetti, a 7-Eleven spokeswoman.

Believe it or not, I first learned about this from ... the UPI headline news ticker on the Middlesex Bank electric sign. It's the only thing I ever saw on that sign with even vague local relevance, and I'm sure that was just an accident.

Uh, hello? CVS??

[identity profile] azores.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, you are forgetting, of course, the 24-hour CVS in Porter Square. Is there nothing better than standing in the aisle and downing an entire milk carton of Whoppers in one magnificent guzzle, chased by a nicely chilled bottle of Sobe Green Tea. Top it off with a Chunky or a hastily ripped open Whitman's Sampler box (ooo, try the little square one with the coconut...) whilst leisurely perusing the 2006 Rand McNally Road Atlas and I think you will find yourself well satiated and ready for bed.
