My girlfriend had the light on her bike stolen last night on Pearson Ave.
I think this is the first bike-related theft to happen in a while,
according to our across the street neighbor.

Just in case you weren't already keeping a close eye on your bicycles!

Was it one of those headlights that slides in and out of its holder? I never leave that on my bike if it's parked outside.

Think about whether there is anything else on your bike that is also easy to remove (eg I will often remove my cycle computer). Some people even go so far as to remove their seat as an anti-theft mechanism (which is quite easy on many bikes).

Last night while walking home on Morrison Ave I saw the curious sight of a bike on *top* of a street sign pole. The pole had no sign (which I'd never noticed before), and the obvious conclusion was that someone had tried to lift the bike and its krypto-lock attaching it up off the pole, got it a bit over the top, and then split.

Since I have tall skills, I stopped to put the bike back on the ground.

Er, I didn't mean Morrison, it was Kidder.
