Cheap mover?

Hey there. I need to do a small (mostly bedroom stuff) move from Somerville to Waltham-I did find a place. :) Anyone know of anyone, other than the big companies, or know of anyone who would help me? Please email me direct, or post here, if you do. Ideally, they'll have a truck, but if not I can rent a uhaul, and either have them do it WITH me or FOR me.

I don't know of any offhand, but there are typically flyers posted on the phone poles between Davis and Powderhouse Squares offering movers (I would assume they're probably also posted places like the Blue Shirt Cafe, Diesel, and Someday). Also, I recommend checking Craigslist for local movers. I have a friend who did this when she needed a washer and dryer moved and it worked out well.

I've used Gentle Giant a couple of times and they were really great. If you do all the prep they can be done in a flash! They were really nice too.

Gentle Giant and Nick's Moving Co. are both pretty good, and reliable.

Good luck!

I can vouch for Nick's. They've gotten a little pricier since winning the Best of Boston award but still not too expensive. Great service and friendly, careful movers...
