Need An Off-Street Parking Spot In Davis Square?

I have a driveway spot for rent - just a 2 minute walk to the T.  The cost is $75 per month if you would just need it Monday to Friday, or $100 per month if you want it all the time.

UPDATE 8/26/07:  The spot is rented.

What do you think this is, the Back Bay? :-)

there are plenty of people in Davis with out of state registrations that don't want to deal with always wanting to find non-permit spots.

I was just making a lighthearted comment. That's what the Internet is for, after all; humorous commentary at someone else's expense.

Fun Fact

While I think the OP was aiming at commuters who work (but don't live) here, if people are actually living here without registering their car, that's illegal and you can report them to the City, who will crack down and fine and such.

A fun way to make friends!

[FTR, I've never done it myself, though it's made me feel better at times to think about it when I had neighbors being assholes about parking.]

i think if the OP was aiming at people who work here they might not have pointed out proximity to the T :)

and yeah, i am aware you can report people. the only time it's been a huge problem for me was when we had a jackass roommate who refused to change his registration; at that point i just wanted the damn guest pass back.

True, well, people who either T to work or work here, but either way, don't live here because then they wouldn't have to drive into the Square was my roundabout and completely unclear point. :P

Yeah, I had people who monopolized a theoretically-shared driveway and didn't understand why their "but we can't park on the street because we can't get a permit" reasoning did not sit well with the rest of us.

the can't get a permit is exactly why i was saying people who *do* live in the square might want on off-street spot. they have to park somewhere that's not the street and many apartments around here don't come with driveways to monopolize.

Generally speaking, it's not "can't" so much as "won't". They could if they just went ahead and registered their car in the city in which they reside, after all.

In California, they actually crack down on this stuff pretty hard, since they can, at least in the parts that are a good distance from other states. M & I were pulled over during our first weeks there and asked why we still had out-of-state plates, enduring a harsh wag of the finger as to the consequences of not remedying the situation in short order. (We were still within the grace period at that point, I think.)

i kind of wish there'd be better enforcement around here. i see california, texas, oklahoma plates all over the place, some of the cars i recognize and have seen on the road for months.

It drives me CRAZY to get ticketed for offenses that I didn't commit (ie, 48 hours in one spot when I was out of town for one of the days), but see all of the damned out of state cars on my street with no tickets.

off-street parking spot

Hi there!
I actually posted looking for a spot a couple of months ago and since have won the business permit lottery for a spot I pay in advance for monthly, but might be interested as the lottery is not a sure thing every year and you might actually be closer (I am at the family practice in the starbucks plaza). Where are you? (you can email me privately if you don't want to post that here)

thanks!

Thanks, but I'm set for now & really looking for a more permanent/ long term (beyond 8/08) space for the future.

thanks. (did you catch the On Point piece Tuesday on NPR?) people have been really cool about it, and she (dr. Bershel)'s really a great person, and a wonderful doctor. she's been very collegial with me, very respectful of all the patients that we see. I'm already enjoying being in the square, but still waiting to get settled in/caught up enough to actually take a lunch & go out & enjoy it.

Hey, I heard much of that episode but somehow never caught that the Doc is right here in Davis. Cool. :)
