Not only that, but check out the prices on their website. Ouch. I hope they charge less at their store, but I'm not holding my breath. Dave's has decent bread for like $1.50.

Dave's has good cheap bread, but it tends towards refined-grains and lightish sorts of bread. When Pigs Fly has some awesome dense whole wheat and multi-grain breads ("Six Grain & Pumpkin Seed" = awesome). Plus, many organic ingredients.

Iggy's is great (Fawcett st. in Cambridge) and only like $3 for a normal sized loaf. It's probably more at Pemberton but I can't believe it'd be $8.

I like Iggy's bread well enough, but they too tend towards refined grains. Their "whole wheat" bread, for example, has more non-whole-wheat flour than whole wheat, whereas When Pigs Fly's version is 100% whole wheat.

But, yeah, yeesh, $8? I don't remember it costing that much. Perhaps that's just the website price.
