Diners in Davis

I was up at Killington yesterday and on the way back stopped at a fabulous "food from here"  diner in Quechee called Farmers Diner (www.farmersdiner.com).  I asked where else they were going, and they said they were looking up in Burlington VT but also were considering of all places Davis Square and other communities in and around Boston.  Knowing how into, or not into, our food establishments we are here, would this be something we could or would support?

It sounds like they also do sales of their own food products at some locations. Do you think they'd be able to take over the old Marino restaurant and market place on Mass Ave? It might have plenty of room for their commissary model. I don't know how pricey it is (probably very), but I know that the neighbors are really hoping that it continues to be a restaurant.

Why did Marino's close, and why has it been closed so long?

It closed because Lelio Marino died, and his heirs were in disagreement about what to do with the property.

Then once they decided what to do with the property (sell it) it was already The End Of The Real Estate Bubble.

That's an awesome space, and I think a groovy slow-food diner would work well there.
