LOST CAT - Davis Square NOW FOUND

Orange long-haired cat lost from Wallace Street Wednesday evening June 25. He has white paws, chest, and stomach, pink nose. Usually is friendly (but may be scared or appear disoriented). He is probably wearing a collar (aqua/turquoise color with silver/gray pawprints on it), but it may have come off. He needs medication, so we are worried about him! The tag has our phone number on it. He may have gotten under someone's porch or in a garage or basement. If at all possible, we would really appreciate it if you could look in those areas of your home if you live in the neighborhood!

6/25/08 Edited to add: He's missed two doses of his meds and might very well have a seizure. If he is about to have a seizure he might act strange -- running back and forth, meowing a lot, turning in circles, etc. And during/after the seizure, he might look like he's foaming at the mouth, but it's NOT rabies -- he's had his shots. It's just from the seizures and losing control of his muscles.

Sunday, June 29: He's home now, safe and sound! Someone saw him over on Chandler Street this morning and called. She got him to come into her house and fed him. He seems in good shape -- a bit shaken, and quiet, but hasn't lost any weight. I just gave him his meds. He's quietly wandering around, being given treats, and being groomed by my other cat. I'm going to have him checked out at the vet's this week. Thanks so much to everyone who expressed concern! We are so happy he's back.

OMG NOOOO! This is the cutest looking cat ever! You might want to call the MSPCA in case he gets picked up, perhaps? I hope you find him.

Let me know if maybe you need some help looking for the cat.

When my exgirlfriend's cat got outside, we literally spent all day with his favorite treats, just walking around and calling for him. He eventually returned. Also, my mom's trick is to sprinkle some of the dirty cat litter with urine and feces in it on the ground. If the animal is lost or disoriented, then it'll smell its own scent and try to move towards that.

I have never heard of that cat-litter trick. Your mom = genius.

I'm so sorry about your cat. I lost mine a few weeks ago (she returned after 3 days) and was amazed at how supportive and helpful people around Porter and Davis were. It sounds like you're doing all the right things to find him. If you haven't already, you might put food and water and something that smells like home (e.g., a toy, a shirt you've slept in) outside. I found my cat when she wandered back into my yard and started eating the food I'd left out.

i'm so so sorry to hear this. your cat is adorable. kitties do tend to stay close to home, so make sure you comb through every possibility on your block.

I hope the kitty is back home already!
If not, try printing up a note and putting it in mailboxes around your house, with a photo and phone number to call if they see the cat. This is what worked for a friend on Hall Ave.

YES. we lost our dog one Christmas and this is precisely how we got her back.

Have you had any luck? *crosses fingers*

did you post signs in the neighborhood?

people around here really are quite helpful. and they're survivors. with so many people out on the weekends i feel like there is a good chance someone will see him and help you.

i feel very positive given that the kitty has a collar with a tag.

Oh thank God, that is awesome news. I had been keeping my eyes open and I even read the "cat found" signs in the area. I'm so glad he is home and well, thank you so much for the updates.
