Get thee to Soliel Cafe

I cannot stress this enough--if you like good pastry at all, please go to Teele and try the new Soliel Cafe. Good cannoli, good flaky pastry (like lobster tails). Good brioche and croisants. Their fruit tarts are prettier and better tasting than the ones they sell in the case at Finale. Moreover, they are in our 'hood and open until 10. The idea of getting a cannoli craving after 8pm and not having to go stand in a stupid long line at Mike's or Modern fills me with unmeasurable joy.

Sandwiches are good too--notably, the meatball (no sauce!) and the caprese. I saw someone the other night with an awesome looking plate of spaghetti and meatballs as well. Go!

Don't forget the gelato, oh, the gelato!

Are they serving breakfast (like, eggs-and-bacon breakfast, not pastry breakfast) on weekend mornings now? I saw a sandwich board last weekend potentially alluding to such, but was on my bike and couldn't quite make it out.

Oooh, excellent, will have to tell the husband. I've listening to him whine for years about a lack of French bakeries in general.

Best cinnamon roll I have had in forever. I swear it was still warm. Also had pasta dinner there last night and it was lovely. And -- and! -- florentines by the pound!

I've eaten there three times and enjoyed it every single time.

I went there tonight (for the first time) and had the aforementioned meatball sandwich with peppers and capers and it was delicious. I also bought a cupcake, an apple tart, and a key lime tart to take home - haven't eaten them yet so I can't comment on the taste but they look really good!

what they call a "cupcake" really transcends the tired old american definition of cupcake. it really is a multilayered cake in a cup.

The cupcakes are delicious, and I don't even usually like cupcakes! The loose cookies are also great, and they are really nice people.
