Where in or near the square can I get fried chicken? I've got a MAJOR craving.

It was in the Porter Square Shopping Center, but I don't remember exactly where. A lot of things have moved in and out of the shopping center since then.

Popeye's closed all of their local stores 10 or 15 years ago, then more recently returned to Kenmore Square.

I believe it was where the bookstore is now.

Anybody got a clue where there's legal parking near the Popeyes in kenmore? I went there with a friend and we went around and around looking for a space and finally gave up and parked in the bank lot across the street, but we were so worried about getting towed that it sorta ruined the experience. (Not that the bank was actually open or had any shortage of spaces, but you know how people can be about parking.)

Park somewhere else, take the Green Line to Kenmore.

It's definitely been more than 9 years. I moved to Porter in 2000 and there was no Popeyes. At the time, there was the Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds - now Qdoba, (something - now Zoots), Liquor World, (something else - now Radio Shack), the frame shop - now gone, Hollywood Video - now Cambridge Naturals, and that women's clothing store that is now the book store.

Shaw's was Star Market, and CVS, Blockbuster and Uno were all there.

Wait, Cambridge Naturals is in Porter Sq? I need to take a trip there to get my weird diabetic-friendly rice syrup drink, and I've been putting it off because my trainer said it was "in Cambridge".

I know where I'm going on Sunday...

It was there when I first moved to Somerville in 1986, and when I moved to Cambridge in 1988, but it didn't last long after that. Also, it was very annoying--I'd get there an hour before closing time and they'd be out of everything and totally uninterested in making more.
