Angelina's FAIL

Angelina's pizza used to be ok for no frills, thin crust pizza but it has really gone downhill. After 3 bad pizzas they have had the benefit of the doubt/mebbe bad night.

What is another shop for thin crust, @$12 for plain pie w/ delivery (not including tip) that delivers in the DS area?

Upper Crust

...in Harvard Square makes an excellent NJ-style thin crust pizza.

That's really sad; Angelina's used to be one of my favorites.

However, even before this news, Pini's Pizzeria in Magoun Square became my favorite. Great crust, sauce, toppings, all-around.

An Angelina's delivery driver stole stuff out of my foyer last winter. My roommate called Angelina's and the driver was caught with our stuff in his car.

And the food does indeed suck.

I'll second Pini's.

Marcos, on Mass Ave. is our go-to "generic pizza" place.
Pinky's in Medford is quite good too, and you can order online.
Neither are super-thin crust though.

I vote for Pini's in Magoun Square. Great pizza, fast delivery, and good prices. They've also added a few other menu items recently, it used to be only pizza. Too bad about Angelina's....they were great. I do think they changed hands a year or 2 ago, the people who had worked there for years seemed to disappear. It was family-owned and operated.

This is good to know. When I first moved to this part of town, and got an Angelina's pizza, it was perfect. It was the platonic ideal of New York-style Italian-backgrounded thin pizza.

This was about a year and a half ago. I've ordered a few times since then and been disappointed, and was starting to wonder if I'd hallucinated that first time.

Italian rather than Greek is important to me in the flavor of the sauce, and a majority of pizza places in greater Camberville seem to be Greek. Is Pini's Italian? Not that the Greek pizza is bad, not at all, but Italian is what I grew up with and sometimes I want that nostalgia.

a new place just opened in magoun sq that i really like: caprese pizzeria and grill. 617 628-5555. thin crust, not as greasy as pini's, free delivery in somerville and some surround. lg. plain cheese pie (16") costs $8.50, a two-topping pie runs about $11. yum !

Our go-to cheap pizza is Cambridge House of Pizza on Mass Ave, next to Friendly Convenience. Cheap and greasy and delicious.

Top Speed

Our house pizza is from Top Speed. It's thin-ish crust (not cracker thin, but not thick) and delicious. They've delivered reliably for years. It's always fast, hot and yummy.

So they don't deliver, which is a major problem, and they close early, which is another problem, but the best imitation NY pizza we've found in the area is at La Ronga bakery on Somerville Ave.

Thin crust, fantastic pizza.

I agree with you about Angelina's. I ordered two slices in-store, and it was like eating a paper plate topped in cheese and ketchup.

I don't have any thin crust suggestions since I favor thick, but it looks like you got lots of recommendations here.

they don't deliver, but sabatino's italian kitchen on mass ave in arlington makes a great pie.

Avellino's and potential place

Avellino's in Medford delivers to me between Ball and Davis, and is delicious and affordable. Also Pescatore in Ball Sq is now making pizza. Not sure if they deliver, but the food in the restaurant is outstanding, and the pizza looks delish also. Will be tryin this week!

top speed

Pini's is good, but Top Speed has been my #1 go-to for more than five years now. Pizza Ring is unfortunately named but usually has good za as well.

City Slicker Cafe

I really like the signature pizzas at City Slicker cafe which is near Union Sq but delivers all the way to Teele Sq.

The above-mentioned issues with meat toppings aside, I have had nothing but good experiences with Theo's on Broadway in Teele. Cheap pizza, good delivery, good sauce. I have never had a problem with their toppings, although I will say I haven't had their sausage. The peppers and 'roni are just fine.

Pizzas are always fresh, hot and not too greasy. Ooh, I gotta order a slice now.

My wife and I always frequent The Paddock down in Winter Hill. Real local place, and they deliver most nights. I always recommend it because it doesn't seem to get the foot traffic it deserves, IMHO, because it's not in the best location. But the pizza is very good, especially the sauteed chicken pizza!

If you want the best thick-crust sicilian pizza in Somerville you must go to Leone's on Broadway, Winter Hill. It's been run by the same family forever and their thick-crust pizza is absolutely the best. Unfortunately, they don't deliver.

Man, lotsa pizza places around here!
