Cafe Lola

Anyone got the scoop on what's going on there?

A day off turned into a vacation, turned into closing and papered over windows. Signs state that it will be opening under new management. I would love it if Rossini came back. The pizza went down the tubes when Lola took over.

I believe Lola( the name of the place) or the person was somehow associated with cafe Rossini. The Rossini Guy( not sure if it's his name) seemed to disappear when it became Lola's. I know that for certain but do not any details or rumors but do know Rossini's itself was around for maybe 13 years- a day in day out business can have it's toll on you. It is nice having neighborhood places and hope if something does come in there a true groundsy sort of place would be nice- though the location itself is tough but highland kitchen is doin ok

I believe the case was that Joe and Lola were married, but then one day they weren't, and lo, the cafe became Lola's alone. (She herself told me this, since I was a longtime regular, but I was too shy to ask for more details.)

She did her best to fly it solo, but it just didn't work out.

I don't know where the "Rossini" name came from, but I know it isn't Joey "the rossini guy's" surname.

I miss Rossini's too. I used to live very nearby and had marvelous sandwiches there all the time.

Just the owner's favorite composer, I think.

It used to be a big hangout for the Capuano administration back in the day. Maybe it never recovered from his promotion to Congress?
