Cupcakes, Art, and Yarn this weekend to support the Somerville Homeless Coalition

Just a reminder that Wrap Around, the Nave Gallery's annual sale of handmade woolen goods, continues this Saturday along with Yarnstorming 1.01, a special photo exhibit on graffitti knitting.

Wrap Around Sales Dates:               Saturday and Sunday, November 12 & 13, 1-5 pm
Cupcake Reception                          Saturday November 12, 1-5 pm

ALSO, we are asking folks to drop on by and yarnstorm the Nave this weekend!

All proceeds from Wrap Around support the Somerville Homeless Coalition.  As we get ready for another cold winter, we can help keep our community warm!

Thanks,

neighborhood info?

I'm looking for people with first-hand (preferably recent) knowledge of the neighborhoods in the area enclosed if you draw a line on a map from the corner of Central & Broadway, down Central, across to Lowell on Vernon St., up Lowell back towards Broadway, and down Broadway to close the rectangle. What I'm looking for: general attitudes of the people you had as neighbors, perceived frequency of property crimes (car/house break-ins), frequency of large/loud parties, any suspicion you might have had regarding criminal activities among people in your neighborhood, any efforts by your neighbors to support civic-type projects (block party, neighborhood cleanup, gardens, etc.). Feel free to send a message if you don't want to respond publicly to this post.

EDITED to more specifically describe the area I'm talking about. Thanks to everyone who wrote in so far. :)

Thief!

To the individual who stole from my amazon box which was delivered to my front steps while I was at work:

You obviously do not believe in Karma if you are willing to commit such a petty, yet invasive crime.  You opened MY amazon package on MY front steps, removed the contents, and left the violated package behind.  It it quite obvious that the package had a similar size & shape as a laptop.  I bet you were quite surprised when you pulled out a used Neurology book.

I hope they lobotomize you.

"Boston" Cello

A friend of mine is visiting the area Tuesday and wants to look at cellos.  Since I've never been cello shopping, I'd like your guidance as to which places she should search first.  I'd love it if I could lead her to the right place by the end of the day instead of having to make a second trip to shop.  This initial searching is going to be done by T so preferably some place accessible by subway and/or bus.  Though if this takes more than one trip, I'd be willing to be her guide to the outer reaches of the commuter rail.

EDIT: She's a beginner who wants to learn.  So if that affects your suggestions, please update your comments.

UPDATE: 3-month rental of a student level cello from Johnson String
