Somerville election results, and general post-election open thread

Unofficial Somerville election results, broken down by precinct and ward, are here. I don't think you'll find any great surprises.Citywide totals repeated here, in case the linked file goes away )

Local question 4, the Community Preservation Act property tax surcharge, won overwhelmingly, 24358-7714 (with 2990 blanks). I hope this will bring much-needed repairs and restoration to the West Branch Library and the Prospect Hill Tower.

I'd love to compare this year's local results to 2008, but I can't find them online anywhere. If you know where to find these, please link to them in the comments here. The pages linked from my 11/7/2008 post no longer work. ETA: Tom Champion e-mailed me an Excel spreadsheet from which I extracted these citywide results for 2008. I also converted that 2008 spreadsheet into a Google Doc which you can find here.

This post is an open thread for any discussion whatsoever about yesterday's election (Somerville-related or otherwise).

Farmers Market still open?

It is now 3:47pm. Has anyone been by the Farmers Market very recently? I heard earlier they were thinking about shutting down early and I'd love confirmation that it's still going before leaving the house. Thanks!

Community Meeting re: Davis Sq playground renovations (Mon Nov 19)

Oliveira at 617-625-6600 ext. 2529 or or write to LOliveira@ somerville.ma.us.

Pizza + Bowling Benefit Night @ Flatbread! (TUE 11/20)

Please join theMOVE (getoutma.org) out on Tuesday 11/20 for an incredible night of ridiculously-delicious (and locally/responsibly-sourced) pizza and candlepin bowling.

It's getting cold out (brrrrr) -- gather your friends around a warm brick oven pizza before you head out for the holiday.  The highest-scoring bowler of the night will go home with a gift card!  And proceeds from all pizza sales will go to benefit our important work connecting Metro Boston's urban youth with the sources of our food.  Eat well, and help out a good cause too!

The Froyo saga has ended, or has it?

Frogpond LLC was just denied their special permits. I hope they look for a home in other surrounding squares. It was an exciting hearing for something like frozen yogurt!

More on Johnnie's Foodmaster

Similar to what others mentioned last week, Boston.com reports that the Alewife Brook Parkway location will close by the end of the month, if not before Thanksgiving.  Additionally - and sadly -  the employees were informed that they will not receive severance pay.

Also, the article mentions that "the letter to employees says that the Alewife Foodmaster location is expecting to complete a transfer or sale".  Let the speculation begin; I gather that it won't be transformed into a burrito/froyo megaplex?
