Parking while moving?

I'm moving to East Somerville on August 1, which is a Sunday. I'll be all set for parking that day, obviously, and the first thing I plan on doing Monday morning is going to get a parking pass for my car.

I've been thinking and thinking of ways to keep from getting ticketed over Sunday night into Monday morning and I'm coming up empty. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I apply for the "resident moving into Somerville" parking pass before I actually move?

Park at a meter, and move the car or pay the meter by 8 AM. That's the only way to park overnight without a permit in Somerville.

Doesn't that depend on the meter? I thought there are some meters that you can't park at between 2:30am and 6 or 8am without a permit, though I might be mistaken.

Yes, but some meters have no such restriction.
