Hey Kids,
My wife and I are getting a much needed night out and want to do a little tour of Davis for cocktails. Just thought I'd reach out to the community and see what your favorite cocktails are that our local restaurants/bars are serving these days. We will be on foot and want to keep it to just Davis. Thanks for the input!

Well it's not RIGHT in Davis, but it's an easy walk from Davis: Sabur has a great cocktail called the Purple Haze with gin and Chambord.

Gargoyles does an excellent classic gin martini, and they carry Hendricks gin, which makes them awesome.

It looks like Foundry does some good stuff, but I've always had beer there, so I haven't had a chance to try any of their cocktails yet!

No one ever really considers them, but Redbones has some really great cocktails. Try the Lynchburg Lemonade, the Mark and Stormy (Maker's Mark and ginger beer), or the Maker's Mint Julep. A bit outside of Davis is Highland Kitchen, and they have some great cocktails too. I personally loved their Mark and Stormy, too. Their ginger beer is chili-infused. Spicy and awesome.

Posto also has some nice cocktails, such as the Gin Gin Mule and their seasonal sangrias, but their bar doesn't seem to be able to handle drinks that aren't on the menu.

not sure what you mean by the last bit there. a bartender at posto made me the best Old Fashioned I've had anywhere, and it's not a drink on their menu

When Posto first opened and for a good spell afterwards, they had an excellent bar; I had a great Sidecar and a really excellent Aviation. But the last two times I've gone there, it seems things have changed. They refused to make me an Aviation ("We can't make it without a recipe in hand"), refused to make a Grateful Dead cocktail for a friend of mine, and didn't know what a Gimlet was. My server told me, "We can really only make drinks if they're listed on the menu."

Love the new summer drinks at gargoyles!

A little outside Davis, but Highland Kitchen's "Highland Fling", awesome!

+1 Posto
+1 Highland Kitchen

You won't go wrong with either of these, if your grabbing dinner too, they are both off the charts.

Hi,

Can you please edit a Subject: line into this post, so that interested people can easily find it later? Thanks. (something like "Cocktails at Davis Square bars and restaurants", perhaps)

Foundry on Elm has some really nice old school cocktails. They also have a diverse beer selection.
